This is a closed tournament. Only the 8 qualified players can participate. But possibility for the public to come kibbitzing.

How to get there

The tournament location is 20 minutes walking from the Brussel North train station (Brussel-Noord / Bruxelles-Nord)
2 minutes away from the tram station Côteaux
15 minutes away from the metro station Botanique

1st round on 10 AM on Saturday 08/02.
Swiss system - 7 rounds (possibly round robin up to 8 participants)

For who ?

Belgian Nationality is not required, but only a Belgian player can become Belgian Champion.
Free of charge. But only for members of the Belgian Go Federation.
--> If you are not member yet, please check with your club manager.

No level restriction, every player is welcome but confirmed club level is advisable.

CORONA MEASURES: While posession of a Covid Safe Ticket is not necessary, it will be mandatory to wear a mouth mask at all times when indoors.

These preliminaries are open to all members of the Belgian Go Federation, and registration is free of charge. The results will be recorded into the Belgian and European rating systems just like for any tournament, so it is a great opportunity to meet your fellow Belgian Go players over the board again after the Brussels tournament of last year! Do note that if you decide to participate, you are required to play all rounds.

In this tournament the 4 best placed players qualify for the Belgian Championship Finals where they join the 4 best placed players from the finals of the previous year.

The preliminary rounds of the 2021 Belgian Championship will be played online on OGS (online-go.com). Participation is free of charge, and only registered members of the Belgian Go Federation can participate. Note that once you participate, you have to play all of the rounds.

Each player will have 1 hour main time, followed by a Canadian byo-yomi of 20 stones in 5 minutes. All games are played without handicap. The top 4 players of the preliminary rounds will be qualified to participate in the final stage of the Belgian Go Championship, where they will be joined by the top 4 players from last year's Belgian Championship finals.
